Pinecliffe 9/20/97 SP 211 and 184 wait on Pinecliffe siding during a foggy and damp fall afternoon back in 1997. This is one of my favorite "weather" photos.
Bull Gulch 6/1/02 SP 234 and UP 5821 (a new "flag" unit) lead an eastbound PSCX coal train into Tunnel 2. This train is destined for PSCO's Cherokee plant in Denver.
Tunnel 13 6/2/01 SP 241 and 369 are end-of-train power on an eastbound coal train, exiting Tunnel 13.
Tunnel 14 8/12/00 SP 244 and 286 lead the eastbound SWFX coal train between Tunnels 14 and 15. This is the infamous "blue coal train."

Tunnel 13 6/2/01 This shot is a little dark, but it's the only one I have like it, so you'll have to bear with it for the time being. SP 252, 364, and UP 6618 are eastbound at Tunnel 13.
Tunnel 29 10/9/99 SP 253 and 219 are mid-train power on an eastbound CCTX coal train.
old Tunnel 17 site 8/17/02 SP 255 and 339 lead eastbound train CCVCY-12 through the road cut at the old Tunnel 17 site in South Draw. The murky skies are the result of smoke from wildfires in the mountains on this particular weekend.
near Tunnel 1 2/23/02 SP 261 and UP 7500 lead train CCVDV-19 eastbound just south of Plainview.
Bull Gulch 6/23/01 SP 265 and 179 lead an eastbound coal train across Bull Gulch, in between Tunnels 2 and 3.
Pinecliffe 1/6/02 SP 276 and UP 8303 are westbound at the east end of Pinecliffe siding. It's a sunny but bitterly-cold day up on the cliff where your humble photographer was positioned.

East Portal 8/21/99 SP 319 emerges from the Moffat Tunnel.
Pinecliffe 9/25/99 SP 323 and UP 7079 are end-of-train power westbound at Pinecliffe. These have got to be the scuzziest engines I have ever seen.
East Portal 3/18/01 SP 324 rolls eastward through falling snow, just east of East Portal.
Tolland 3/18/01 SP 324 (same train as above) has now reached Tolland. Snow is still falling, but the sun is beginning to come out.

Rollins 3/18/01 SP 324 meets a westbounder at Rollins siding.
Pinecliffe 2/8/03 SP 332 and UP 8219 lead an eastbound coal train through the snowy landscape of the Front Range. I only had to wait about 15 minutes for this train to arrive, but let me say that it's a long 15 minutes when you're sitting on a windy exposed cliff with a -15oF wind chill.

Plainview 2/8/03 After stopping east of Crescent due to stuck brakes on a coal gondola, SP332/UP8219 have finally proceeded down the mountain to Plainview. The train has just passed the westbound California Zephyr and is rolling through on a green signal.
Tunnel 10 6/22/01 SP 348, UP 6743, and SP 113 are end-of-train pushers on an eastbound coal train entering Tunnel 10.
Plainview 3/2/02 How's this for good luck: getting two trains to pass on Plainview siding right in front of the camera. The eastbounder (approaching the camera) is SP 349, UP 6206, and SP 264. The westbounder is SP 324, UP 7246, SP 185, and UP 7168.
Plainview 3/2/02 Here's SP 349, UP 6206, and SP 264 rolling past. This shot was taken during the worst snow storm of the season with about 8 inches of snow on the ground and a steaming 8oF temperature. Note how the house track is almost entirely covered in snow.
Plainview 3/11/01 SP 350 leads a westbound coal train through moderate snowfall at Plainview.
Crescent 3/11/00 SP 358 and 115 lead an eastbound coal train at Crescent.
Clay 2/12/01 SP 358 and UP 7053 approach Clay siding on their way towards Denver.

Rattlesnake Gulch 3/4/00 SP 366 and UP 6765 are dwarfed by the mountains around them in this nice shot looking east down Eldorado Canyon between Tunnels 8 and 10.
East Portal 9/20/97 SP 376 exits the East Portal of the Moffat Tunnel. Luckily, the sun came out in time for this shot...and you can't beat those aspen groves on the slope in the background.
